PSA of the Day: Nonpartisan pro-accountability “grass-roots community advocacy organisation” GetUp! says it’s time to end marriage discrimination in Australia.

After watching this short PSA, hopefully you’ll agree it’s time to end marriage discrimination all over the world.

It is unreal how good this is! I just cried like a baby watching it!

We’ve had a crazy couple of weeks and we’ve been bad about dedicating time to blog. Forgive us for slacking on our 366 project? I promise we haven’t abandoned you or this blog! I think we’ll be able to catch up!

I am long overdue for a post about our venue adventures (read: nightmares) so that’s first up on my to-do list!

How’s everyone else’s wedding planning going? Anyone else having trouble staying on track while they get sick and deal with the season changes?

So allow me to vent for a minute…
This is what happens when you Google image search for “lesbian cake toppers”. I have searched for this before and it just doesn’t end well. Most of the time they sell individual plastic brides. You can get a blonde butch girl in a tux or a brunette butch girl in a tux (obviously with short hair). You can get a blonde femme girl in a dress or a brunette femme girl in a dress (obviously with long hair). I just want to give up!
I think we have decided to not have a cake topper. I’m kind of sad about it but I’m not going to settle for something that doesn’t actually represent me! If anyone has any ideas where we can get some “normal” looking ones (not cheap looking) let us know!

Jess and I frequently fight about my attachment to my personal technology. It is very rare that my iPhone is out of my hand. I am crazily protective of my computer and my iPad. I love social media and if I’m not refreshing my twitter feed or facebook news feed or scoping out the latest photos on instagram, I feel totally disconnected from the world. Some (read: Jess) might say I have a problem. I certainly disagree, but I’m biased.

Jess has made it clear that my iPhone is not invited to our wedding. I don’t know if I can get through one of the most important days of my life without sharing my joy with the world! That’s what social media is for! I want to be able to tweet and post to instagram and share things here on tumblr! I found this awesome service where your friends can post photos to instagram with a custom hashtag and then they print out instantly at your reception. How cool is that?!? I think it’s super cool.

So, how will I get through it? What do you guys think?? What would you do??

Awwwwr! Jess took a screenshot of her Facebook profile when we got engaged. How’d it take me so long to see that? She’s so cute.

Can’t wait until it says we’re MARRIED!

Here’s a mock centerpiece that Jess made! I think it’s perfect and exactly what I envisioned.

I especially love the table number. It’s an unfinished frame that she stained, a sheet of scrapbook paper, and a house number from a hardware store!

It took us SO LONG to agree on a theme or “feel” for the wedding. It was definitely one of the most stressful elements so far. We have lots of interests and there are lots of things that are important to us that we wanted to include. Themes and color schemes we considered: Boston with cranberry red, navy blue, and ivory; Americana with the same colors; “modern baroque” with magenta, teal, and black and white; and “classic navy yard” with navy and yellow.

We are so much happier with this “feel” and color scheme. As I said a few days ago, we love Fall. We want to capture our love of Fall and some of our favorite Fall funtivities, like visiting orchards and farm stands. We want it to be rustic and feel like New England. I love the lanterns and the berries and the candles! Ah!

This is just the beginning!

So excited for all of our new followers and people supporting us through likes, comments, and reblogs! I hope that our honest documentation of the year leading up to our wedding will help others who might find themselves in a similar situation to ours. Soon, things are going to get real and we’re going to be talking about our stuggles with venues, finances, and big decisions. Bigger than centerpieces and guest lists! Thank you again for your support. Love you all - near and far!

Our beautiful church, Old South Church in Boston. We can’t wait to profess our love for one another and make a commitment to each other in the sight of God, our congregation, our family, and our friends. Over the last year, it has been amazing to grow into and learn about and connect with our faith. We wouldn’t have been do this alone, so I thank God for send me Jess to share this journey with. Amen!

Fall is our favorite time of year. We LOVE Fall funtivities. Some of our favorite memories have been created in apple orchards and at farm stands. Every year, we kick off our favorite season with a trip to the Topsfield Fair - America’s oldest agricultural fair! This year, we brought our friend and personal paparazzo Jess to the Fair and got some really quality engagement photos. You’ll see more of those soon!
Until then, here’s a shot of us from last year, enjoying some delicious apple cider! We hope you like cider too because rather than toasting with champagne at the wedding, we hope to have a cider toast!
